You can now sign up for weekly emails that show you which projects have been newly added but also changed status, e.g. permits have been approved or construction has started.

The Development Tracker provides a comprehensive, data-driven record of projects proposed and built under the Multifamily Housing Ordinance. The interactive map allows residents to see where redevelopment is occurring and how neighborhoods are changing over time. By bringing this information together in one place, the Tracker makes it easier to understand the cumulative effects of zoning changes across the city.
Each project includes publicly available information about the property, proposed development, and, where available, changes such as the number of housing units, building size, demolition of existing structures, removal of trees, changes to open space, and the loss of parking. Historical photographs and project updates help document how individual sites evolve from existing homes to completed developments.
The Tracker is designed to provide an objective record of redevelopment rather than isolated examples. While a single project may appear insignificant, dozens or hundreds of projects can collectively reshape neighborhoods, alter streetscapes, increase demands on infrastructure, and change the character of the city. Understanding these cumulative impacts is essential to evaluating whether current housing policies are achieving their intended goals.
New projects are added regularly as permit applications are filed and developments move through the approval process. The database continues to grow, creating an increasingly complete picture of redevelopment activity throughout Cambridge.
Information in the Development Tracker is compiled from municipal records, developer filings, publicly available documents, and information provided by residents.
